Biodiversity & the New Government:
Understand Future Policy, Developing an Effective Planning System
Westminster-Briefing.com
London | Tuesday 1st December | 11am – 3.30pm
The Conservative manifesto, which is to be implemented in full, pledged to develop a 25-year plan to restore the UK’s biodiversity.
Local authorities have a duty to protect biodiversity. How will future Government policy support the planning system? How can partners improve joint-working to enhance as well as protect biodiversity? What can be learnt from last year’s offsetting pilot schemes?
Key issues to be addressed include:
• Will the new Government implement previous arrangements and recommendations?
• Balancing development opportunities against protection of fragile ecosystems and access to natural environment
• From the pre-planning consultation to monitoring offsets: learning from practical examples and experiences
About the day
