Construction Law and Non NBS Spec writing training opportunity

Construction Law and Non NBS Spec writing training opportunity
About:

An enquiry has come in via HR manager in an Architect’s practice where GBE recently presented In-house CPD seminar on Specification and Liability

An HR manager at another Practice has asked for recommendations for construction law & spec writing training and are keen to explore non-NBS options.

Construction Law:

  • I do not profess to know very much about case law other than delivered via Liability Alerts in the RIBA Journal.
  • I know how to write specifications to avoid trouble
  • I understand EU Procurement Rules, Construction Procurement Directive and Regulations and how to comply in specifications
  • I spoke on Legislation driving Environmental Design & Specification 1999, 2010, 2014.
  • I regularly prepare and present solutions to Environmental Legislation e.g. Waste, SWMP, PPR, REACH, GPP
  • I spoke with solicitors at Software launch event, sponsored by the solicitors
  • I also spoke 6 times at EcoShowcase across the UK about Specification v Liability with a Solicitor, sponsored by a manufacturer.
  • I have presented Specification and Liability to RIBA Part 3 students & Architectural practice in-house CPD
  • On Liability Issues I have two papers ready prepared.
  • I can suggest Solicitors who can speak to Architects

Specification CPD Training and Coaching

  • On Specification CPD I have many papers prepared
  • I can provide seminars on writing specification from scratch
  • I have trained many Architects, Technician, Interior designers and Administration staff to use NBS Building
  • I can lecture, teach and coach others to write specification
  • I can audit specifications written by others and provide guidance on improvement

Non-NBS Specification Writing Experience

  • I have created my own ASWS, NGS & GBE Specification Library that integrate with and or stands alone from PSA, NBS & MasterSpec Libraries
  • I have a Performance Specification which I use on any project or package with Contractor Design responsibilities
  • I write new work sections where none exists in NBS
  • I write specifications for serviced building component where Architect & Engineers steer clear.
  • I rewrite manufacturers specifications to fit but obtain manufacturers confirmation
  • I created American Master Spec formatted project specifications using my own Library
  • I write most Project Specifications from scratch using CAWS (used by NBS Building)
  • I write Employer’s Requirements using my own Library
  • I write Design & Build Specifications using only Performance Prescriptive & Assembly clauses no workmanship
  • I write specifications to suit the procurement method.

Specification Writing

  • I have written specifications using PSA, NBS and my own libraries
  • I have used PSA Hard Copy Binder Service, PSA Booklet, PSA Disk service
  • I have used NBS Hard Copy Binder Service, NBS Disk service, NBS Specification Manager, NBS Specification Writer, NBS Building software
  • I have had training in NBS Building, NBS Landscape, NBS Engineering, NBS Create
  • I make extensive use of NBS Building’s Office Templates to speed up specification assembly
  • I use NBS Building’s Office Templates to speed up Project and Package specification assembly
  • I have written £2415m worth of contract specification

So I would be happy to have my name put forward.

Thank you
