GBE Comment:
- The author of the book argues that the plethora of green labels have no place and that one consistent approach like standardised LCA and EPD are the way to judge products.
- Green labels only address one issue (but natureplus addresses LCA/EPD, Competency, Green and Healthy)
- Green labels address issues outside of the system boundaries of LCA/EPD
- Green labels address issues specific to an industry, sector or product and help to identify the best in group
- Labels can address Technical, Social, Health and Environmental issues
- Labels can address legal compliance
- Labels are about individual products by individual manufacturers
- Manufacturers can hide behind Generic Sector based LCA and EPD
- LCA/EPD address all issues (but ignores competency, appropriate, effective, IAQ)
- LCA/EPD is standardised (it is becoming consistent but older inconsistent information remains out there)
- LCA/EPD is standardised (but national rules re-establish inconsistency)
