Registration: Historic Environment Scotland – Retrofit at SpACE (Public Drop in)
About this event
- Drop-in to a series of talks and demonstrations on maintaining and adapting your historic building to meet the challenges of climate change. You’ll have the chance to meet and ask questions to experts from Historic Environment Scotland, the Sustainable Traditional Buildings Alliance, and Home Energy Scotland.
- This event is open to anyone with an interest in maintaining and adapting their historic building to address climate change.
- Owners and occupiers of historic buildings are often the first to experience the impacts of our changing climate and, as the lead body for Scotland’s historic environment, Historic Environment Scotland want to let you know that there are steps you can take to maintain and increase the energy efficiency of your building. Together with partners from the Sustainable Traditional Buildings Alliance and Home Energy Scotland, Historic Environment Scotland will host a series of short talks on key principles as well as the measures required for the adaptation of historic buildings.
- Topics covered will include the circular economy, planning and consenting, conservation retrofit and renewables.
- At the end of each talk, there will be room to engage with our experts through questions and further discussion.
- There will also be demonstrations on the use of traditional materials for energy efficiency upgrades as well as on-line tools for the retrofit of your building. Information from our exemplar retrofit project at the Holyrood Park Lodge will also be shared.
- SpACE stands for space for architecture, Carbon and Environment.
- It is a recent public platform located at the old Lauriston Fire Station, which is now a part of the Edinburgh College of art Building.
- This exhibition space will allow people to engage with topics related to design and the built environment in the setting of achieving net-zero carbon by 2030.
