Add yours and benefit from others
Recommendations from other specifiers are probably one of the most valuable and reliable tools for finding suitable building products for your projects.
Manufacturers are going to tell you their product is great and is exactly what you need. Quite often this will be true. But wouldn’t a bit of impartial advice be helpful?
Hopefully you are already getting involved in our #SocialSpec project on Twitter. If not, and you have no idea what I’m on about, head on over to the #SocialSpec page to find out more.
But we also want you to be able to provide and benefit from reviews, recommendations and ratings of building products on SpecifiedBy.
So at the bottom of every product page there is an area where specifiers can leave their opinions about a particular product. This allows you to easily read, review or request feedback from other specifiers.
Simply log in and start benefiting from the insights of others and share your experiences.
All the best,
Darren
PS – Remember to invite your colleagues so you can easily share product information back and forth with Project Folders.

Introducing Social Specification
Twitter: #SocialSpec
Ever wanted to get a quick, reliable recommendation, from another specifier, for a particular type of building product or supplier?
Well, I thought I’d take a bit of a break from introducing features from SpecifiedBy today, and instead tell you about a nice little side-project we have going on on Twitter that aims to help you do this quicker and better.
This little project is called #SocialSpec and it’s basically social, crowd-sourced specification advice!
A while back, one of our manufacturers very kindly described us as pioneers of ‘Social Specification‘. This immediately made me think, we should use that! Then, literally a couple of days later, I was on Twitter and I saw an architect Tweet that he was looking for a particular type of building product, and did anyone have any recommendations. I retweeted it and within minutes, another architect had replied saying something like, ‘We’ve just used these guys, highly recommended’. And I thought, wow, that is Social Specification.
So we’ve decided to try to structure this process a bit, in order to help specifiers reach a larger network for recommendations and advice.
Here’s how it works:
1) Tweet your building product or supplier requirements to us directly on@SocialSpec or using #SocialSpec
2) We retweet to our network of industry specifiers, contractors and specialists, helping you reach a large network of potential referrers.
3) You receive super-quick, unbiased recommendations to your product requests. And you can easily check the relevancy of the source!
So if you like the sound of this and you’re on Twitter, follow @SocialSpec and get involved with social specification!
Chat soon,
Darren
