Problems:
Misunderstandings:
Solutions:
Consider:
- Recycling of coated aluminium: See Z3
- Recycled content aluminium: See Z11.2
Avoid:
- Use of Virgin Aluminium See Z11.2
Minimise:
- Use of Virgin Aluminium See Z11.2
Value Engineering:
(getting stuff into projects)
Substitute:
Health:
Wellbeing:
Safety:
- Overhead untoughened glass once broken will form into shards of glass that will fall risking life and limb below
- Overhead toughened glass once broken will reduce to small nuggets of glass that are less damaging
- Overhead double glazing could be toughened in top sheet and laminated in bottom sheet, to capture broken toughened glass nuggets
- Overhead laminated glazing once broken can escape from the glazing bars and fall risking life and limb below
- Overhead laminated glazing needs to have deep glazing channels to help retention of the glass
Precautionary principle:

Recycled Content:
Use recycled aluminium in preference to virgin aluminium, 95% reduction in CO2 generated in production is possible

Maintenance issue:
- Maintenance of sloping glazing can be problematic
- Has the glass been designed to resist access loadings
- Ergonomics of cleaning may prevent complete cleaning
- See X22 Access and Maintenance Systems
- Pressurised demineralised water supply via handle of long poles with squeegy on end
- See S18
